When the therapist tells her she may have a neurotic attachment to Arnold from being (ongoing) molested by her father, Marie is so relieved to have the answer to her lifelong problem, she sets out to save her father too: her problem is rooted in childhood; her father's problem must be rooted in his childhood too.
